Revelation 6:8

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

The name of the rider, ‘Death’, marks the rider to be Satan, for in him is the spirit and power of death. Paul wrote of the devil as him ‘that had the power of death’, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;” (Hebrews 2:14)

As a horse is symbolic of a church, and Satan is the rider of the pale horse, the ‘pale horse’ is symbolic of the church of Satan. The church of Satan will be Satan’s vehicle of death in the fulfilment of the Revelation prophecy. She was later shown to be drunk with the blood of the saints and martyrs: “And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.” (Revelation 17:5,6) The church of Satan was also revealed to be responsible for the deaths of all who will be killed upon the earth: “And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.” (Revelation 18:24)

‘Hell’ was shown to follow ‘Death’. Just as ‘Death’ is the spiritual name of Satan, Hell is the spiritual name of an entity that will bring about the spiritual destruction of souls. Since lies are what will bring about the spiritual destruction of souls, this entity named ‘Hell’ will be Satan’s instrument of lies and deception. This entity was later shown in a beast that had two horns: “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.” (Revelation 13:11-14)

In the fulfilment, therefore, of the things revealed in the opening of the fourth seal, Satan through his church, and a miracle working false prophet two-horned beast entity, will be given power over one-quarter of the earth to kill with ‘sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.’ To kill with ‘sword’ is to destroy with the weapons of war. To kill with ‘hunger’ is to kill through famine. To kill with ‘death’ is to kill with plagues, incurable diseases and calamities. And to kill with the ‘beasts of the earth’ is to kill with the armies of empires.
