REVELATION 14:1
And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
A ‘Lamb’ is symbolic of Jesus Christ. The spiritual formation of the ‘hundred forty and four thousand’ was previously shown to John: “And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.” (Revelation 7:2-4) The hundred and forty-four thousand were shown to be sealed in their foreheads with ‘His Father’s name’, even the Spirit of the Father, the Holy Spirit.
Jesus stood on mount Sion with the hundred and forty-four thousand. ‘Mount Sion’ is a spiritual mountain: it cannot be seen nor touched. As Paul wrote, “For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness and tempest.” (Hebrews 12;18) While the children of Israel came to mount Sinai, those who believe in Jesus Christ come to mount Sion. Paul wrote, “But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,23to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” (Hebrews 12:22-24) It is no wonder then that John saw Jesus and the hundred and forty-four thousand on mount Sion, for those who come Sion come ‘to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant’. Though the hundred and forty-four thousand will dwell on earth, their spirits will be on mount Sion.
The revelation of God’s church in the hundred and forty-four thousand signals the beginning of the fifth prophesying of the Revelation prophecy. This time, the focus of the prophecy is brought to bear on God’s church.
